Terea Capsule Sticks Explained: Pearl, Click, Burst
Six Terea sticks contain a click-to-burst capsule that transforms the flavor mid-puff. Here's how they work and which one to try first.
If you've heard about "Pearl" Terea sticks but aren't sure what makes them different from regular ones, this is the whole story.
What's actually inside a Pearl stick
A standard Terea stick has tobacco, a paper wrap, and a foam filter. A Pearl Terea has those things plus a small spherical capsule embedded inside the filter. The capsule holds a flavored liquid — usually a fruit aroma, often combined with menthol.
When you squeeze the filter with your fingers until you hear a faint "click," the capsule breaks and releases its liquid into the filter. From that moment, every puff carries the new flavor on top of the tobacco base.
The result: one stick, two flavor profiles. Smoke the first half straight, click the capsule, finish with a fresh, fruity, or icy twist.
Why click capsules
Three reasons people prefer them:
- Flavor switching mid-session. You don't have to commit to one taste up front.
- Fresher finish. The burst often delivers a cooler, brighter sensation that breaks up flavor fatigue.
- Novelty. It's genuinely fun to time the click.
When to click
There's no rule, but most users wait until 5-6 puffs in — about halfway through the stick. Click too early and the fresh flavor dominates the whole experience; click too late and you only get a few puffs of the burst.
A common pattern: smoke the first half to enjoy the base tobacco, click halfway, finish with the released flavor.
All six Pearl sticks available in the US
Europe
Twilight Pearl (EU) — Strength 4/5 Full-bodied toasted tobacco with malty character. Click releases cooling blueberry and menthol. Tobacco-forward before, berry-icy after. The most popular EU capsule.
Japan
Oasis Pearl JP — Strength 3/5 Tobacco base with a tropical fruit burst — raspberry, mango, lychee, peach, coconut all in one capsule. Exotic, juicy, bright finish.
Velvet Pearl (JP) — Strength 3/5 Refreshing mint tobacco base. Click releases a mellow mixed-berry aroma. Cool and crisp before the click, sweet and fruity after.
Middle East
Oasis Pearl (ME) — Strength 2/5 Light, balanced tobacco. Capsule releases a refreshing tropical fruit aroma with a hint of menthol. Smoothest of the Pearls — clean from start to finish.
Sun Pearl (ME) — Strength 3/5 Real tobacco character with a sweet, green-fruit capsule — most prominently ripe melon. Sunny, fruity, menthol-cooled finish.
Starling Pearl (ME) — Strength 3/5 Rounded toasted tobacco with subtle wood and tea aromas. Capsule releases basil and strawberry — the most adventurous flavor pairing in the lineup. For the curious.
Which Pearl should you try first?
- Want classic berry + menthol? Twilight Pearl. Universal pick.
- Want tropical exotic? Oasis Pearl JP.
- Want gentle / light? Oasis Pearl (ME).
- Want something weird? Starling Pearl (ME). Basil + strawberry is unlike anything else.
- Want fresh melon? Sun Pearl.
A few practical tips
- Don't pre-click. Squeezing the capsule before you light the stick wastes most of the liquid into the filter before you draw on it. Wait until you're actively smoking.
- Click firmly but briefly. Pinch the filter once, hard, between your thumb and index finger. You'll feel a soft "pop." That's it.
- Once is enough. A second click does nothing — the capsule is single-use.
- Storage. Don't crush a Pearl carton in your pocket. The capsules can break early if compressed for too long.
How Pearl Terea compares to capsule cigarettes
If you smoked Marlboro Ice Blast, Camel Crush, or any other capsule cigarette before, the mechanic will feel instantly familiar. The differences:
- No smoke or ash — same as any heated tobacco vs. combustion cigarette.
- More precise flavor delivery. The Iluma's controlled heat means the burst stays distinct rather than blurring with smoke chemistry.
- No chemical aftertaste. Capsule cigarettes often left a soapy residue; Pearl Terea finishes cleanly.
For most ex-capsule-cigarette smokers, Pearl Terea is the closest replacement and usually better.
