What is IQOS Iluma Prime? Iluma Prime is the top-tier heated tobacco device in Philip Morris International's Iluma range. It's a two-piece system — a slim holder that goes to your mouth, and a full charging cradle that keeps the holder powered between sessions. The Prime is the premium tier: refined materials, longer combined battery life, and the same blade-free SMARTCORE Induction Technology as the rest of the Iluma family. How SMARTCORE Induction Technology works Iluma is the first IQOS generation that heats tobacco without a blade. Instead of a metal blade poking into the stick, a tiny steel heating element sits inside every Terea stick itself — the "SMARTCORE." Iluma's chamber induction-heats that element from the outside without ever touching the tobacco directly. Three things follow from that: nothing gets scraped clean (no blade to snap, no chamber to swab), the tobacco is heated rather than burnt (aerosol, not smoke), and the device recognizes Terea sticks automatically — HeatSticks and older HEETS won't work. Roughly six minutes or fourteen puffs per stick, then the holder shuts off on its own.

Session flow Charge the cradle overnight. In the morning, pull the holder out (magnetic release), insert a Terea stick, wait for the gentle vibration that says it's ready. Take your session — up to 14 puffs, ~6 minutes. When the holder vibrates twice and the LED dims, session's done. Drop the holder back in the cradle and it starts topping up immediately. No cleaning between sticks, no ash tray, no smell that lingers on your clothes.
