What is IQOS Iluma Standard "i"? The Iluma Standard "i" is the mid-tier device in the Iluma range — smaller and more pocket-friendly than the Prime, more capable than the One. Like the Prime it's a two-piece system: a slim holder for the actual session, and a pocket charger that lives in your bag or coat and refills the holder between sticks. The "i" designation marks the updated 2024 generation, which brought auto-start, FlexPuff, and FlexBattery to a device that was already the top-selling IQOS worldwide.

How SMARTCORE Induction Technology works Iluma is the first IQOS generation that heats tobacco without a blade. Instead, every Terea stick contains a tiny steel heating element called the SMARTCORE, and the device induction-heats it from the outside without ever touching the tobacco directly. That means no scraping, no cleaning between sticks, no more of the blade-snap failures that plagued the old IQOS 3 line. The tobacco is heated, not burnt — what you inhale is an aerosol rather than smoke. Each Terea stick lasts around six minutes or fourteen puffs, then the holder shuts down on its own.

What "i" adds over the original Iluma

Session flow Charge the pocket charger from any USB-C source. Pull the holder out, insert a Terea stick, the device auto-detects and starts heating — a gentle vibration and the LED tells you when it's ready. Take your session (~14 puffs, ~6 minutes). Two vibrations = session over. Drop the holder back in the pocket charger and it tops up in about 3 minutes, ready for the next stick.
